Got to try my new commute for the first time this morning. My car overheated.

The good news is that the problem was minor. I took an hour off work, got a hose replaced, and $40 later was good to go. My engine did not burn out and I did not get stuck on the 405. The bad news is that it takes about an hour to get to work, instead of the 15 minute commute I used to have. I hate getting up in the dark. :(

Moving sucks ass. I still hurt, my family is tired, my dad has cuts all over his arms from the wooden furniture, and I'm sleeping on an air mattress. I'm really looking forward to when we have moved completely, and I can live somewhere with both our furniture and our stuff.

The pool and jacuzzi at our new place our great. Once the cable and fridge people made their appearances yesterday (I skipped work to wait for them) I went swimming. I forgot how much I like the smell of clorine. I would hate to smell it all the time, but it feels so nice to be in a cool pool and relax. ahhhh

Damn, I'm at work. Gotta get back to that.

The past few days I have been sick. It's a pretty annoying cold. All I want to do is lay around the house and either watch TV or read. Not really hungry, not really up to anything. Unfortunately, I have this thing called a job so today I am back at work. I don't plan on doing a whole lot though, as I don't think I can trust much of what I do.

Yesterday I went to an Excel training class. It turned out to be pretty okay. Nothing at all exciting, but I feel like I learned some useful stuff and had a nice day away from the office.

I think I'm sick. I hate being sick. I hate that don't know what my body's going to do next feeling. What sucks worse is that we are moving this weekend, and I really can't be sick for that.

The weekend was good. I like three day weekends because I really feel like there is time both to get stuff done and to relax. We did a lot of packing and random wedding crap, which is always good. Sunday night we went to get boba and I was feeling restless afterwards, so we decided to go explore our new neighborhood. All and all it turned out pretty well.

Good things: we are close to a gas station, market, freeway, and lots of shops and restraunts. We found a boba shop in Studio City.
Bad things: our market is a Ralph's, we can't find a close Washington Mutual, and our Bally's looks small.

OH man did we overeat last night.

Going to Outback turned into a bit of adventure. Dave and I had never been to the Del Amo mall, and had no idea it was some huge megacomplex that sprawls for forever. And, of course, we parked opposite where the restraunt was. "No problem" we figured, since we still had 45 minutes before our estimated seating time, and we needed the walk to burn some of the calories we were going to eat. What we forgot is that malls close. The walk back was almost a mile around the mall, and both of us felt sick from the mass quantities of food we ate. oops.

The whole dinner experience was really good though. Service was perfect (never needed to wait for anything, drink topped off, food came out on time and hot) and the food was really tasty. We just ate three times what we needed to. I'm still sick. Bad nea!

Valentine's Day is so much better now that I have Dave. I NEVER had a date or anything on Valentine's day until he moved here. Now I have one for forever. :) I even got flowers delivered to my cubicle this morning. It's funny, our office kinda looks like a florist's. Tonight Dave and I are off to the ever so romantic Outback Steakhouse. We are using a gift certificate we got for Christmas from my uncle.

Major wedding issues right now. Damn flaky people.

I had to. It even matches my cell phone tone. I'm sorry this site is degenerating into quiz land again, but this is just too damn cool.

I feel really worn out.

The wedding is starting to loom. As is the $2500 or so that we are short, which will temporarially come from my savings, and the ordeal of inviting people. It drives me nuts to want to invite people but at the same time hope that some won't come so we can all fit.

The move is going HORRIBLY. Every time I turn around it's another few hundred bucks out of my pocket. Yes, I know Dave will pay me back but sometimes I wish I didn't have a savings account. I'm sick of my tutoring dollars that I spent fucking nine years saving being used for stupid crap like credit checks and buying a fridge. It is so incredibly frustrating to feel like your money is going to naught. I'm close to the point where I just wish I had said No when Dave wanted to start looking for somewhere new to live. Today the manager started crap about giving a 22 day notice versus a 30 day one. This wasn't a problem last week, but suddenly it's a problem now. Dammit, another $400 from Linnea.

I had an extremely productive weekend. Dave and I went fridge shopping, and were able to bargain down a good fridge. We went to this place where my stepfather used to work in the 70s, and the manager still remembered him. This helped with our bargaining. We also officially started packing, though all we've packed is a box of kitchen stuff that we don't want anymore. Neither of us drink much coffee, yet we had over twenty coffee cups. Both of us figure in May we're going to need to do this again to fit our wedding presents, so doing a good amount of weeding is in our best interests. Dave has made sure most of our utilities are already to go and bought postage (okay this was this morning) to mail out invitations.

I'm a little worried about the effects of sending out invitations. There were a LOT of people that I wanted to invite but just plain couldn't because my family is so big. And I'm sure at least a few of these people are expecting to be invited. In fact, one friend of mine who I see rarely, says "Don't forget to invite us to your wedding" instead of a much more polite "Goodbye." She isn't invited. Only two of my high school friends are invited, and just a handful of other people who aren't part of the wedding party. I just hope that people don't randomly show up. I also hope we have managed to make clear that we are not having a Vietnamese-style wedding, where you invite everyone because they more or less pay for themselves.

I also got to see a lot of people this weekend that I don't get to see very often. There was a potluck Friday night, and a birthday party Sunday night to which many of the same people were invited. Both events went really well, and I had a great time at both. I saw Greg twice (wow!) in one weekend. Ted came down from up north to visit, which was also very cool. I rarely get to see Ted, though I talk to him from time to time online, and it was nice to catch up a little. With so many people around I didn't get a chance to really sit and visit long with anyone, but that's okay. It seems that more and more people show up for get togethers, and that the internet really is bringing people closer. Damn, I'm such a lame commercial.

This week=work! Yeah!!!!! I have stuff to do!!!

Another day to what has been the SLOWEST week since I started working here ten months ago. And now the system is not functioning correctly, so I can't even really help other people. It's to the point where I'm helping sort mail in an attempt to be productive. I'm starting to feel guilty. No one should sit at their desk for eight hours a day and have so little to show for it.

I am caught up with reading everyone's blog.

I have read quite a few books on this awesome site, literature.org. Two days ago I finished ALL the Oz books, which is something I've been meaning to do ever since my best friend read them almost ten years ago.

I have been practicing my French, especially the line "Un moment, mon mari parles francais." which translates into "One moment, my husband speaks French." I think this will be VERY useful.

I am sick of taking and posting online quizes. I'm sure whoever reads this is probably not so interested in them either.

On the other hand, I have made it halfway through the week without totally losing it. We still haven't heard about the apartment we applied for Saturday, but hopefully we'll get it and can start the whole moving process. I have quite a bit else to look forward to: APO Elections, Quyen's potluck where Dave is bringing his famous mulled wine, Neil's birthday (El Cholo is going to hate us), and Valentine's Day. Now if the days can just go by and little faster . . .

Yep, still bored. Today I have decided to convert ALL the invoices for the month. I really don't need to be doing this yet, and I could share the work with the other girl who does converting, but why? I have NOTHING else to do. Ted suggested I learn java online. I might just do that. Either that or French.

Here is today's quiz:

I took the What Mythological Creature Are you? test.

Did I mention I've had an hour of work max each day for the past week? It's really sad. I have so little to do, and I can't even find much work among the other groups. Man, will I be happy when Hyundai starts and everyone will be working again.

It looks like we are moving to Studio City. I'm still not sure whether I like this move or not. On one hand, it means cheaper rent, a washer and dryer, the end of our stupid plumbing and homeless people problems, a pool, a jacuzzi, and a fitness center. It also means a MUCH better building. The apartment itself is not a huge change. On the other hand, I'm leaving Santa Monica and the Westside. My commute is going to suck. Not just be bad, but totally, completely suck. Instead of my current routine: get up at 7:20, leave for work at 8:20, and get there at 8:30, I will probably have to get up at 6:30 and leave by 7:20 at the latest. This does NOT make me happy, as I'm one of those people who would rather sleep until about 10:30 every morning. As everyone I tell about this move has pointed out yes, this is an impetus for me to get a new job. However, since I am not changing jobs until after the wedding, I will have at least three months of this horrible lousy commute. I'm just glad I'm not doing all the packing and moving this time. Bad Dave.

My eyes hurt. I am currently inputting three invoices, each of have about 400 spots in 6-point font (spot is the advertising term for commercials.) I have to input each spot one by one into our system, then check and make sure I got all of them and that the dollars match. Ow. Things are fuzzy now, and I've only input one. Man, am I looking to move on up.

Dave and I are going apartment shopping this weekend. Yeah! New apartments are fun. Moving is fun. Packing is not so fun. :)
