How totally sad is my job if I can check through 365 messages of junk mail on my junk e-mail account. The cyclical nature of my job sends me into some really low lows. Do I have more than an hour of work tomorrow? No! Thursday? No! Friday? Still no! If I am lucky there will be something to do Monday.
The worst part of all this is that next month is a little month. This month I had over 16000 spots to work on, my current load for next month is a little over 4000. Um, time to finish the resume update. A light workload is nice. A nonexistant one when you have to swipe in and out for work is a nightmare. Any one have openings?

Stupid traffic. Stupid accidents on Sepulveda making me half an hour late to work. I listen to the traffic report every morning and afternoon and am astounded by how many reckless people there are out there. There are so many people trying to shave five minutes off their commute by doing something stupid (say, changing lanes and then slamming on their brakes in front of a big rig) and end up fucking up everyone's commute for the morning. Today I got there near the end of the accident, which looked like an SUV got hit on the driver's side. The interesting thing is that it was in the right lane, which means it tried to merge with someone. No, stupid SUV, you cannot merge into other people's cars just because you are bigger! Stupid stupid people.

Fun with Stations
One or two days a month I have to call stations to have them fax over invoices that I am missing. It is always an interesting day, with lots of random phone calls going back and forth. However, it is one of those times when I realize that most people are not so bright.
1. I accept that people can't spell my name. This is not a problem, and invoices with "Lina," "Linda," "Renee," "Leanne" and other random names that sound kinda like Linnea usually end up in my hands. But when I spell my name for you, you should be capable enough to send the fax with my name correctly spelled on it. Then again, that would make sense.
2. Mac, the A/R guy trying to be funny. I told him I had received an invoice that said there were 22 spots (commercials) but I only counted 21. After much going back and forth with the AE and the Sales Rep, they concluded that yes, there were only 21 spots. He asked me to remove a spot, perferably a $0 one. I tried to explain that there was nothing to remove, as there was one missing. All I was changing was the totals. I'm not sure what we was missing, but finally he's like "Oh, I'm just kidding with you." Um, yeah you were. Then he continues, "Santa Monica, huh? That's a real pretty place. I was there once as a small boy. . . ." Um, yeah, I'm very excited for you. Let me get back to work.
3. When I call for an invoice for a station, say WXTB-FM in Tampa, for a certain client, say Radio Shack, and a certain month, say June, I do not want other invoices. I do not want Radio Shack invoices for other stations. I do not want May or July invoices. I do not want invoices for every client my agency does. Yet, what do I get sent? Everything BUT what I need, of course.
I know people are dumb, but when I make a specific request I would really like for people to answer that request instead of trying to guess my needs. bleh

I like when Dave's family sends him birthday money. We went shopping at Old Navy today. Dave got a new pair of khakis and a rugby, and I got a rugby and a $5 pair of thongs. Yay birthday!

Last night was actually a lot better than expected. There were 11 people at Charlotte's birthday dinner. Most knew each other, but some didn't, so Dave and I didn't feel totally out of place. We decided not to go to Karaoke afterwards, as it was already 10, I hadn't been home yet, and we both had to get up early this morning.
I am giving up on Spark's pizza. You'd think a place where the second line under their name says "Woodfired pizza and grill" would have good pizza. The two I've had there were strikingly similar, with no sauce at all (argh) and a crust so thin it kinda ends up soggy rather than crispy by the second slice. Everyone else's food looked really good (well, except for the spaghetti sauce soup) so I think next time we go I will get chunk of meat. Their creamed spinach is quite tasty. Dave let me have a lot of his. :)

So Hyun and Howard are getting married this weekend. Fucking shit, how that brings back drama.
There are times when I am so glad that I'm married. Actually, I think I am more glad that I don't have any strange exes who start dating my friends and acting like jerks and totally fucking up my life for awhile. But still, being married to Dave means not having to worry about if other people are going to come in and mess up your love life. Yay dave!

So Aaron got an 1170 on his practice test. Pretty respectable score. It feels so teachlike to be sitting in the living room and grading a test. hee hee
Tonight Dave and I are going to a birthday dinner for one of the people Dave has met online. Dave meets a lot of people online, which is something I hate doing. I don't want to talk to strangers online when I can talk to my friends. Everyone that's shown up in my ICQ or in the chat area of games I play turns out to be either a strange foreign exchange student or a total creep. Maybe this is because I'm a girl and people are looking for cheap cybersex. Maybe I'm just in the wrong places. But, in all honesty, I think meeting people online is a little wierd. Then again, so is Dave. :)
I'm sure we'll have a good time, but I hate having no clue what to expect. I've never talked to this woman. I have no clue what her friends are going to be like. It's a hard position for me to be in. But I'll live.

Today I get to proctor an SAT test. How horribly exciting for me. The hard part is going to be keeping the house quiet and Aaron undistracted for three hours. argh. I miss tutoring in a house where they respect that the kid needs to be left alone and the house kept quiet.
My back is still kinda funky, but much better. Dave gave me a massage.
I finished reading From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne online today. It was quite good. It's great reading old science fiction, and seeing how much of it makes sense it our current day and age. This book had a very american industrialization thing going to it that I liked. I recommend www.literature.org to anyone who has some free time at work and gets sick of chatting/websurfing. Reading online for too long really fucks up your eyes though.

OK, the ditch the married people thing is getting a little old. Can I have my friends back, please?
My back decided to go into random spasms today. Now the muscles on one side are all full of lactic acid and are totally sore. Normally, I would be able to go home at 5 and have Dave try and fix me, but today I get to start summer SAT tutoring (oh how fun) and won't get home until 8. The little money I have saved is going to go towards car insurance, since I'm a married woman now and my mommy won't pay for me any longer. sneef. I'm sick of having stupid people (ok, person) in the mailroom cut invoices in half while opening envelopes and then throwing half the invoice away. I would rather have two halves, that I could tape together, than go through the hassle of calling the station and explaining that I only have half an invoice. I think today is just not my day.

I went wine tasting for the first time yesterday. Actually, since I don't like wine at all, I drove and Dave and Jamie (Dave's best friend is in town for the weekend) drank. We hit five wineries up near Santa Ynez: Sunstone, Ressec (sp?), Koehler, Firestone, and Curtis. Dave and Jamie said Koehler and Firestone were not very good, but the others they liked a lot. The only one I didn't like was Koehler, because there was very little to look at, the air conditioning sucked, and the two guys bartending, if you call it that, were wierd. I was actually pretty entertained at the whole atmosphere of wine tasting though. By the last one it was almost 4 in the afternoon and people were getting pretty drunk. We'd passed some of the same people and cars at other wineries, so by the end of the day there was a definite happy group atmosphere. I accidently rubbed some guys butt while grabbing Dave's hand (crowded) and he looks back and says, "Whatever you're doing, it felt good." It was really funny rather than perverted. Dave's best line of the day: "This wine has overtures of tunafish salad." closely followed by "This wine tastes like asss-sh." He and Jamie ended up buying like 14 bottles of wine out of the over 40 that they tried. It was a fun day.
However, Linnea driving for hours and being in the sun all day is not good. We hit Solvang, this nifty Danish town, after the wineries. I was totally tired and out of it. I did make it to Camarillo though, where we stopped for outlet shopping and dinner. By the time dinner was over I was still totally tired. Dave was sober by that point, so he drove and I tried to sleep in the back seat. I ended up car sick, but lived until we got home, where I promptly went to bed at 8:30. Totally tired out.

Our marriage license finally showed up today. Yay! Now I can begin the whole name changing process. Friday I am going to the social security office (which happens to be in the shopping center at the end of my block) to get a new card, then going from there. We will get this done eventually. I really will be Mrs. Lieberman someday.
Last night we cleaned the bathrooms. I forgot how nice it is to have clean bath rugs. They're all soft, and smush under your toes, and look all pretty. Tonight we will continue our cleaning saga.

Dave and I have to find new car insurance by the end of this month. My policy expires, and my mom doesn't want to renew me as a single child living at home. I think this makes a lot of sense. Dave's insurance is up in August anyway, so we figure this is a good time to change everything over. Shopping for insurance is a real pain, though. We have to get quotes from all over after we figured out what levels of coverage we wanted. Today I get to call my mom's agent, and tomorrow Dave gets to call his. Bleh.
It's not really shaping up to be a fun next few days. Dave's best friend is coming into town this weekend, which means we need to clean the apartment. An apartment where there are still wedding presents running rampant on the floor and two bathtubs that really need scrubbing. Yuck. We've been pretty good about keeping things neat, except for the office, but clean is a different story.
We STILL don't have a copy of our marriage certificate. So I can't change my social security card, or driver's license, or anything. I'm thinking that if it doesn't come soon, I may just start doing all the things I needed to take care (like buying a car) as Linnea Adler and then just changing stuff later. It is so annoying to be in limbo.
My raise has been postponed by the fact that my company just lost one of its biggest clients. This makes me sad. This also makes me need a new job, because I'm sick of working an hour from home for a very low salary. If anyone has openings, let me know.

Dave and I discovered a couple of weeks ago that there is a shuttle at the bottom of the hill to Universal Studios that will take you up and drop you off for free. Since we live maybe 3/4 of a mile from the shuttle stop, we have a new place to go and hang out. We've also discovered that as long as we get out of there by 8 pm or so, it is not the solid mass of cow people and teenagers that makes City Walk really suck at night. Yesterday we went to the Versailles in the City Walk food court for dinner. It's not nearly as good as the restaurants, but still quite tasty. Yay roast pork!

I finally have the space in my cubicle all to myself! Ever since I moved in to my new bigger cubicle, I've had to live with a ton of files from the person who used to work in here. Today I see her supservisor, who had promised me the stuff would be gone long before July.
"When are we going to be able to move the rest of Arlene's files out of my desk?"
"Good question . . . (ramble ramble)"
I ended up proposing that I would box them up and move them to the space by the fax that is full of her group's stuff anyway, so that she could deal with them at her leisure. I like moving stuff. Said plan was approved, and now I have an empty file cabinet all to myself. muah ha ha ha.

Dave and I bought a case of mangos at Ranch 99 this weekend for three dollars. We are now working on creative uses for the mangos. Yesterday was mango salsa (very tasty). Today we started looking up recipies for mango lassis. There are some very strange recipies out there. After looking at such Indian food experts as Emerill, Martha Stewart, etc, we've decided to make out own recipe. We'll see how this goes.

OK, strapless bras and DD boobs do not go together. I keep having this feeling that the bra is going to end up around my waist. But I had a need to wear a spagetti-strap tank top, and Dave said that the bright blue bra straps just weren't working. I tried to protest, using the Seventeen fashion tip I read years ago, that if you are going to show your bra straps they should be colorful and obvious. This is so people know that you know your bra is showing. But whatever.
My fourth of July sunburn is slowly starting to fade. Hurts to the touch, but I can now wear pants without pain. This is good. Maybe by Monday when I head back to work I will have something resembling a tan.

I spent too much time reading online yesterday and ended up with serious eye strain. My drive home was horrid, and I slept almost 11 hours last night in an attempt to feel better. Poor Dave didn't get to do anything cuz I was such a mess. Today I am fine, though. And I am going to be careful about the amount of time I spend looking at the computer screen. This should be easy since, again, I have NO WORK. I am so glad to be getting off at two, and be able to still have my hour for lunch.
I brought our wedding thank you notes with me today. I am going to spend the day writing, so many of you should get cute little cards in the mail soon.

I don't know what I would do without the internet. I have had NO work for almost a week now. My department goes in definite spurts and slows, so there is not a whole lot for me to do. The people who are behind half the time don't admit it, and miss their chances during these slow times every month to catch up. This leaves me with little to nothing to do. My favorite site right now is literature.org, because they publish old books on there. I've been reading a book or two every week. Currently I'm working on The Little White Bird, by J.M. Barrie (the same guy who wrote Peter Pan.) I wish I could be a bit more productive, but such is my job. At least we have internet access.
Also to break my boredom we have had parties two days in a row. Yesterday we had a baby shower for a girl named Tracy. We meant to have it before her daughter was born, but then she had the baby a month early. It was fun, everyone got to see the baby and have her entertain us. It got a little old having everyone in turns come up to me and say either "You're next" or "When is it your turn?" To these I replied 1. I think Shariese, who is currently six months pregnant, will probably be the next to have a baby (duh) and 2. We need a house first. I don't think people were swayed by these arguments, which worried me a bit, but whatever. Today we had a department potluck. Yay food! Yay free hour and a half lunch! I am now happily full, but bored.
